Maguire nada Director’s Message  continued on page 9 ADA Looks to Continue Momentum In 2013 And Beyond The U.S. economy is continuing to gain momentum and new- car sales are leading the way. In fact, “Momentum” was the theme of this year’s 96th annual NADA Convention and Expo in Orlando, Florida. The convention drew more than 20,000 new-car dealers and managers, auto industry executives and exhibitors from across the globe. And those attendees were kept busy, with dealer franchise meetings, shopping the expo floor and more than 150 workshop sessions covering 60 topics. The stellar lineup of keynote speakers included former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, Hyundai’s John Krafcik and inspirational speaker Mark Kelly, a former astronaut and husband of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. NADA Selects New President The National Automobile Dealers Association recently selected Peter K. Welch as its new president. Peter has been president and chief executive officer of the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) in Sacramento since 2003, and has man- aged its government affairs office, including legal, legislative and regulatory affairs, since 1990. The CNCDA is the country’s largest state organization for new-car dealers. In addition to the appointment of Peter as NADA president, several other individuals were also promoted to new positions. Joseph L. Cowden was named Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and CFO. Andrew D. Koblenz was named Executive Vice President, Legal and Regulatory Affairs and General Counsel; and DavidW. Regan was named Executive Vice President, Legislative Affairs. NADA Launches Enhanced NADA University Online NADAUniversity has launched an enhanced and enriched NADA University Online (NADAUniversity.com) with new and expanded features designed to custom-tailor the user experience. With an all new look and feel, the site provides dealership users job- and task-specific training and education organized into categories and topics that align with their needs. New features of NADA University Online include My Career Path, with job-specific training recommendations, links to relevant NADA U content, and tracking capabilities; and the Library, which is stocked with NADA U publications and documents and also allows dealers to upload dealership-specific files for easy access exclusively by their
