MURPHY & CO. 973 809-9311 • dan@dtmurphy.com • www.dtmurphy.com Dan Murphy election cycle are typically between $100,000 and $200,000, ranking it as one of the most active political action committees in the State. Dealer support extends beyond the wallet or pocketbook. Grassroots support from dealers throughout the State is also key to maximiz- ing the reach of the industry’s message. Many dealers pick up the phone, send an email or mail a letter in support of (or opposition to) a specific legislative proposal. We appreciate those who respond when NJCARputs out the call, butwith35,000 employees in theNewJersey industry, we should be able to inundate our elected officials with com- munications when the need arises. Earlier this year NJ CARmade it easier than ever for dealers and their employees to communicate with legislators when we launched our VoterVoice online grassroots tool. In fact, THOUSANDS of emails and letters have been generated during our months-long campaign to pass new amendments to the Franchise Practices Act. In addition to theCoalition’s political action efforts, NJCAR’s Chari- table contributions also shine a light on the industry’s commitment to communities throughout the State. Contributions from the NJ CAR Charitable Foundation have a two- prong effect. They help bring funding and visibility to worthwhile causes AND show the character of the individuals and businesses that support local hospitals, youth programs, social programs, health programs or any other charitable cause. New Jersey dealers help hundreds of organizations in communities throughout the State, as evidenced by the estimated $13.3million in contributions the industry made in 2013. NJ CAR compliments these individual charitable efforts with contri- butions from the “NJ CAR Charles E. Walton Charitable Founda- tion” on behalf of the entire New Jersey dealership community. The Foundation is funded through an optional $50 contribution included on NJCAR’s annualMembershipdues invoice. Through theFounda- tion, theCoalition is better able to focus dealer giving on a larger scale. The NJ CAR/ Charles E. Walton Charitable Foundation highlights the generosity of the entire retail automotive industry in New Jersey. I encourageEVERYdealer to support bothCAR-PACand theCharles E. Walton Charitable Foundation. Both entities promote the best qualities found in New Jersey’s dealership community and ensure our elected officials, opinion leaders and the public see how important neighborhood dealerships are to both the communities in which they operate and the entire New Jersey economy.
