To do that, I will invest in our infrastructure and in building a state-of-the-art transportation network. Government also must work at the speed of business. I am fully cognizant of the challenge and reputation that Trenton has, and I am equally committed to changing that perception. We need to streamline processes so people get answers in real time, not someone else’s time. I have committed to creating an Innovation Cabinet, bringing together leaders in the tech industry, to help us reset the systems that run our State government, so agencies can finally speak with each other and provide residents with a more seamless customer experience. Businesses that want to operate here should be able to do so quickly and efficiently. I am also committed to changing the way government acts when it comes to crafting our State budget. The State budget sends strong signals to the business community of priorities and future actions. We need honesty and transparency more than ever, and I am committed to ending Governor Christie’s and Lieutenant Governor Guadagno’s practice of raiding funds from one place to plug a hole somewhere else, and of making unrealistic growth estimates. I have been highly critical of this Administration’s use of corporate tax breaks as a blunt instrument. Tax incentives have a role, but this governor and lieutenant governor have irresponsibly wielded this tool with a focus on rewarding large corporations. We are a State that runs on small and medium-sized businesses, which have been all but left out. The over- whelming number of businesses in our State are small businesses — you are the ones creating most of our jobs, and you are the businesses we must foster. New Jersey hasn’t had a comprehensive state plan in roughly 15 years. — and a lot has changed over that time. It’s a big reason why our economy is stuck in the mud. We not only don’t know where we’re going, but we have no clue where it is we’re TRYING to go. That will change. I do not believe in “us versus them,” whether in politics or business. We must rise as one State, with all regions benefiting from economic growth and progress. We need to be partners in making a better and brighter future for our State, with an economy that is strong, fair, and works for all 9 million of us. We will be the State that grows on the backs of small businesses, where strong investments in innovation and infrastructure attract new residents, and where government is again respected and trusted. We can do this. And we will. Use the red key. ® Our end-to-end financing solutions help dealerships grow and customers buy. All credit products are subject to credit approval.
