N E W J E R S E Y C O A L I T I O N O F A U T O M O T I V E R E T A I L E R S I S S U E N O . 1 , 2 0 2 0 14 new jersey auto retailer Dealerships Are Frequently Cited For OSHA Violations There were more than 1,300 Occupational Safety and Health Administration ( OSHA ) inspections conducted at dealerships across the United States between January 2015 through December 2019, with the inspections often identifying multiple violations and as- sociated fines. In addition to the costs to respond to the violations, dealers don’t want to “make the list” of facilities with violations and fines, as this will often result in follow-up inspections. Also, the violations and fines are posted publicly on OSHA’s website and must be posted at the dealership at or near the place where each violation occurred to make employees aware of the hazards to which they may be exposed. Listed below are the ten violations most frequently cited by Federal OSHA for automobile dealers in New Jersey between October 2018 and September 2019.
